Setting Up A Facebook Business Page

In one our previous articles, we discussed the benefits of using social media. This series, we cover how to set up a Facebook Business page.

Facebook is one of the largest search engines alongside Google and with over 1.86 billion monthly active users, the potential to reach new customers is practically limitless.

Set up your Facebook Business page in these simple steps…

  • Once you have a Facebook profile, click on the ‘create page’ on your home page
  • You will then need to click on ‘Local Business or place’

  • Choose the ’category’ your business falls under, along with your Business name, phone number the ‘address’, then ‘get started’
  • You will then be taken to your blank business page. Here you can add a company logo, business description/about, photos and more! This is your online storefront so make it count and stand out!

There you have it, your Facebook page is set up, but the work doesn’t stop!

Social media is an ever-changing market place and to thrive you need to keep investing time. Creating regular relevant content, posting pictures and engaging with your audience all combine to build brand awareness and get your name out there. Here are our top tips to get you started:

  1. Invite as many people to like your page as you know, encourage your friends to share and like the page to spread the word. The more people that see it the better
  2. Create a show stopping product/service description- get creative! Why should your customer choose you rather than your competitor? what’s your USP? what do you do better or differently to your competitors? This is your chance to shine!
  3. Utilise the cover photo banner, although you can’t advertise prices you can still include an eye-catching banner that conveys your company’s personality
  4. Enable notifications so when you receive a message or comment you can reply and get back to the customer instantly
  5. If possible, have more than one person to manage your Facebook business page. That way, as the popularity increases you can still maintain a quick response and spread your workload
  6. Seriously consider if you want to be able to give customers the option of reviewing your company. This can bring good and bad press so worth using with caution with so many keyboard warriors around. If you don’t want reviews, you can turn this setting off in the settings view.

With five new profiles created every second on Facebook, the potential audience is increasing for your business by the second!
